Format of Monthly Programmes
Each monthly programme normally features one complete Kathakali play. Prior to each programme, a written scene-by-scene summary is circulated for the knowledge of participants, along with live explanation of the actions on stage wherever required.
On select occasions, the programme may also include short talks or commemorative speeches remembering eminent Kathakali artistes, or presentations on Kathakali and related classical art forms such as Koodiyattam. These additions are kept concise and contextual, ensuring the primary focus remains on the performance.

Kalivilakku Theliyikkal
Every Kathakali programme begins with the traditional Kalivilakku Theliyikkal β the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. This ritual signifies the formal commencement of the performance and reflects the spiritual and cultural ethos associated with Kathakali.
Recognition of Artistes
While formal felicitation is not a routine component of every programme, the Club takes care to acknowledge and mention notable achievements of artistes performing on a given day β particularly when they have recently received recognition or awards from other cultural institutions.
Scene-by-Scene Summary
Before each programme, a written synopsis is circulated to the audience covering the story, characters, and key scenes β making the performance accessible to first-time attendees and enriching the experience for seasoned rasikas.
